TERMS OF SERVICE

The deal, plainly.

gotcha.dog is a free tag registry that helps get a lost dog home, plus an optional paid vault for keeping vet paperwork. By using it you agree to what is below. We have kept it short and honest.

What gotcha is

A free lost-dog registry and found page, free forever — with an optional paid vault on top.

Register your dog, get a tag, and if they ever go missing, a finder who scans it lands on a found page with your contact details. That registry is free, forever. The vault is an optional paid tier for storing vet documents and getting reminders. That is the whole service.

gotcha is not your vet

Nothing on gotcha is veterinary or medical advice. Reminders are a convenience, not a diagnosis. Ask a vet.

Reminders, transcribed records, and anything else gotcha shows you are a convenience to help you stay organized — they are not veterinary advice, and they are not a substitute for a veterinarian. A reminder can be wrong, late, or missing entirely. Machine-read text can misread a document. Always confirm your dog's care, medications, and vaccinations with a qualified vet. Never rely on gotcha for a health or medical decision.

No guarantee your dog comes home

We help, but we cannot promise a lost dog is found. It depends on a finder scanning the tag.

gotcha only works when someone finds your dog and scans the tag or enters its code. We cannot control whether that happens, so we cannot and do not guarantee that a lost dog will be recovered. Keep the tag legible and your contact details current to give it the best chance.

Your account, your responsibility

Keep your sign-in safe, keep uploads lawful, and only upload what is yours to upload.

You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping access to your email secure, since that is how you sign in. Do not upload anything unlawful, and do not upload content you do not have the right to store. You must be 18 or older, or use gotcha with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision.

Billing

The vault is an annual subscription through Stripe. Cancel any time. A lapse never locks you out of your own data.

The vault is billed yearly through Stripe. You can cancel any time from the billing portal, and your vault access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. If a subscription lapses, adding new documents pauses — but you never lose read access: you can still open, and always export, everything already in your vault.

As-is, and where we draw the line on liability

gotcha is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses from using it — including a dog not found.

We work hard to keep gotcha reliable, but it is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, gotcha.dog and the people behind it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service — including a lost dog not being recovered, a missed or wrong reminder, or a lapse in the service. Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Ending things

You can leave any time. We can suspend an account that is used for abuse.

You can delete your account whenever you like — it erases your pets, documents, and files. We may suspend or terminate an account that is used for abuse, fraud, or anything unlawful. Retired tag codes are never reassigned to another dog.
